Project Mission, Vision

Project Mission
We are at a very exciting time in the history of the MAH. This is a time in our history that has never witnessed before. The Hamilton Muslim community has doubled in the last decade and we are active and respected members of the Hamilton community. In addition to this we have begun the process of the construction for the New Mosque and Community Centre.
Fulfilling this expansion project, as pertinent as it is to accommodate the growing numbers of worshippers today, is even more vital to provide for the generations to come. It is our mission and collective responsibility to accommodate the growth of our community and provide an inclusive place of worship which includes a comprehensive community centre where city-wide community members will gather together in prayers, learning, dialogue, and celebrations.

Project Vision
The Muslim Community in Hamilton has been in existence since early 1960. As the Muslim population increased the need for a prayer facility was realized. Throughout the course of the last 50 years the prayer facilities have been altered and subsequently moved to accommodate the ever-growing population. This increase also necessitated a Community Centre alongside the Mosque to adapt for community use.
The MAH has worked diligently for the past 45 years in efforts to give the Muslim Community the services and programs which have proven to be of benefit to ensure the progression and integration of Muslims in the larger community. In order to continue to adapt to the changing needs of the community the MAH must develop a facility that is relevant and adequate for today’s community with the stark reality that this community will expand even further in the future. We firmly believe it is our collective responsibility to accommodate the growth of our community and provide an inclusive place of worship which includes a comprehensive community centre where city-wide community members gather together in prayers, learning, dialogue, and celebrations for ourselves and essentially for our future generations to come.
The MAH has begun construction on a 25,000 sq ft Prayer Hall which includes a 16,600 sq ft main floor and 8,400 sq ft mezzanine for the sisters. Currently three of the seven stages have reached completion. The proposal includes the completion for construction of the New Mosque as well as renovations to the existing Mosque to transform into a comprehensive community centre.
The vision for the future is a comprehensive facility with the well-being of the Muslim and larger community taken into consideration. Education and integration is the core aspiration. The enhanced facilities will include the following;

 Completion of a new 25,000 sq ft worship area (16,600 sq ft main floor, 8,400 sq ft mezzanine)

 Handicapped accessible mezzanine level

 Enhancement of services currently provide

 Modern Library

 Extensive educational facilities with both religious and Ontario Curriculum Based

 Multi-function meeting room and conference facility

 Inclusive Fitness Centre

 Funeral Facilities

 A simple structure enabling a cost effective build, producing a Mosque which will be efficient to maintain
